Getting Packed

The World's only Fanny Trekker is back on the trail! It has been a few years since last I traveled under the unique guidelines set forth in the Fanny Trekker code of ethics.  My previous journeys are catalogued on other blogs that I'll link to here, but now, so as not to clutter things with the past, I am starting anew.

I will be leaving for Bangkok on Tuesday for the Thai New Year celebration of Songkran, also known as the Water Festival.  My journey will take me to Asia for the first time, and it is unknown what other countries I might stumble upon (stumbling is the fanny trekker's preferred mode of transit).  I do known that my flight to Bangkok will have a layover in Beijing China.  I land at 5pm but my layover is 20 hours long!  I'll have the opportunity to travel outside the airport, and into the city.  My goals for china are threefold:  eat dumplings, eat a whole duck from a street vendor, and find out what they drink.  I don't plan on staying anywhere; I figure the jet lag will get me through a long and exciting night in the most populated/polluted city on earth.

I am meeting a mystery friend in Thailand and we plan on doing typical thai things while there.  Eating spicy food, chartering river barges, fishing boats to the islands, drinking redbull (which legend has it was filled with cocaine in Thailand), going to beach raves, looking at elephants and monkeys, getting accupuncture, massaged with frankkensense and oils like royalty, walking through rice patties, etc.  I am not sure what we're going to actually do, but I'll be sure to let you all know!  Stay tuned.

In the mean time, here are some pictures and my packing list.

Iphone 6S and case/charger
Headphones
Wallet / Passport
Eastern Sierra Drifters Beer Coozie
Ball Four by Jim Bouton
Notebook and 2 ball point pens
Floss
1 pack of smokes/matches
6 Personal Protection Devices
Sewing Kit/Swabs/Qtips
Baby Powder
2 disposable Bic razors
Eli's Snake Oil Hand Salve
Foldable toothbrush
Pocket Comb
Underwear
Humboldt State Logging Sports T-shirt
Levis 501 (distressed)
Chuck Taylor All-Stars
2 Pair ankle socks
Speedo (very euro trash)
Belt and Clipper Ship Belt Buckle
Gabriel Farms of Sebastopol, CA Ball Cap
And a sweet ass Leather Fanny Pack

1 note on this set up, Included is a blanket and hoodie.  These items are for the flight.  I'll be adding a bunch of mini bottles of booze, some food, and what not.  I've been told to not expect much from AirChina in terms of free stuff on international flights.  The blanket and hoodie I plan on chucking when I get to Bangkok.  Beijing has a climate similar to Northern California, but Thailand is going to be unbearable.

I chose this specific pair of Levis because they are already very close to becoming shorts.  When I land in the sweltering heat of Thailand, I expect their transition to shorts will occur in quick succession.  That shirt will probably lose its sleeves too.
